Yoga Origin, Types & Goals*

Vedanta Philosophy
One of the world’s most ancient spiritual philosophies and one of its broadest,
based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India.

The 3 Gunas
Just as all colors can be created from combinations of the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue, so too is all of experience and all of creation formed from three aspects, or gunas:
Satva, Rajas and Tamas. These three qualities are the ingredients of all mental and physical existence.

The 4 Paths of Yoga
Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Raja Yoga. These four paths of yoga are aspects of a whole that is called Yoga. The four paths of yoga work together, like fingers on a hand.

The 8 limbs of Raja Yoga
Yama (attitudes toward our environment), Niyama (attitudes toward ourselves), Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (restraint or expansion of the breath), Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (meditation) and Samadhi (complete integration).

*All forms of yoga lead by Lena, are easily understandable and achievable by all levels of practice. No prior experience is necessary. Yoga is for everyone!
